by the Leo Block Alumni House are conducted on Golf carts. With
over $450 million in new architecture and landscaping you will want
to see why DU is ranked as one the best campuses in North America.
Tours are available Friday and Saturday at 10:00 am and 11:00 am.
Reserve your time by calling (303) 871-2701.
Campus lounge Luncheon
- The Campus Lounge aka Worldwide Headquarters of the Denver Hockey
Alumni Association is the site for this kick–off event. Join
Owner Jim Wiste, (fresh off a hockey tour of Scandinavia with the
Chicago Black Hawks Alumni Players) for a toast to the ‘Ol
Crimson and Gold. Regale in old stories you’ve laughed at
many times before and be sure to bring your spouse or significant
other. They’ll have no idea what’s so funny! It’s
a reunion, what did you expect!
Pep Rally! At the
Embassy Suites - This pep rally is really just a woodsy with a better
location! Yes, there will hors d’oeuvre and refreshing evening
beverages. No, there will not be any Cheerleaders or organized cheering.
That’s not our style.
Suggested attire… wear what you’d wear to the hockey
game or out to dinner.
Friday night hockey
- Denver vs. Vermont 7:30 Magness Arena We have arranged for a van
to transport Denver hockey Alums from Embassy Suites to the Richie
Center where your tickets will be on call. (You get as many tickets
as people you registered.) Watch the #1 ranked Pios take on their
eastern Powerhouse rivals, Vermont! Or skip the game and go to dinner
with your friends. It’s your weekend, enjoy! Transportation
is not provided for the return trip to the Embassy Suites.
Saturday Breakfast
– As Registered Guests at Embassy Suites, you always enjoy
a full cooked to order breakfast. Breakfast is Served from 7:30
-10:00 am. Join us in the reunion lounge after breakfast for a visit.
Lemon and Orange Shoot-out
- You know the drill, skate in and score the first time down the
ice and you’re in the Orange line. Miss the first time thru
and you’re shooting for a Lemon! Don’t feel like lacin’
the skates up? Ok, we’ll also putt for the Lemon and orange
on a putting green on the concourse in the Arena. Pick your venue,
the ice or the putting green!
Alumni Game - Feelin’
hale and hearty? Join you fellow Denver hockey Alumni for a multigenerational
scrimmage, just for the fun of it. Come on you’ve still got
it! Just remember where you put it! Just bring your own equipment,
(including helmets) sign the release form before you step on the
ice and relive old glories once again. Times for the Game and the
Shootout will be announced prior to dropping the puck!
60th Anniversary Denver Hockey Celebration
– This is it! The big one! Join your friends and teammates
as we celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Denver Hockey. It’s
a party in the Hamilton Gymnasium (next to the arena). Festivities
start promptly at 5:00 pm with refreshing beverages (cash Bar) and
Hors d’oeuvres. There will be some Short speeches and a DVD
tribute to the coaches and players. In addition, some Special recognitions
and the ceremonial puck drop by Doug McKinnon , the Pioneers first
Captain, and Norman Cash our other 1st year teammate at the game
starting at 7:00 PM. Players will be introduced on the ice between
periods.
Suggested attire: Business casual
Post game reception
– Meet the current varsity team and enjoy some dessert and
coffee after the victory over Vermont!
Weather: Mostly Autumn
with a chance of winter! It could be a beautiful sunny day, or we
could have snow up to your knees. My suggestion is watch the Weather
Channel before you pack.
Altitude: If you
haven’t been to Denver in a long time, the air has gotten
thinner. Or maybe we’re just getting older! The rule of thumb
is for every thousand feet of altitude the sun is 3% stronger, the
stairs are 33% harder to climb and the drinks are 33% stronger.
Baggage Fees: Most
airlines charge a fee for checking luggage these days. If you feel
the need to pack more than one small carry-on suitcase to be suitably
attired for this reunion, you are going to be over dressed! Don’t
pay those baggage fees just to impress us, we know you to well anyway!
Ground transportation – From
Denver International Airport. We suggest you call
the Super Shuttle. The Embassy Suites Denver Southeast is 0n their
route. Call 800-258-3826. The fair is about $19 each, one way. Or
book on line at www.supershuttle.com
