March 1, 2009
Dear Denver Hockey Alumni:
Wow-Wee! The numbers are
unbelievable!
The response to the E-vite for the 60th Anniversary of Denver Hockey
Celebration has exceeded everyone’s expectation. Today we
have 261 “yeses” and 98 “maybes”. And only
35 regrets have been received to date. Of the 261 confirmations
there are 150 returning hockey players! And we still have over 400
invitations that have not responded. Bottom line, we are anticipating
close to 400 players, spouses and close friends to be in attendance
on October 9-10, 2009 when we celebrate Denver Hockey!
Peg Bradley-Doppes, Vice Chancellor of Athletics and Recreation
has stepped up and offered the 60th Anniversary Celebration Committee
every possible assistance at their disposal.
It is going to be a 1st class weekend celebration. The agenda has
been tweaked and events have been enhanced and there are a couple
of surprises we think you will be delighted to receive. In order
to continue our planning and take this event from planning to fruition
we need the commitment from those of you who have responded affirmatively
to the e-vite. We are doing everything we can to hold down the cost
to attend this special event.
The Celebration Committee has worked out a way to offer a discount
on the registration fees if they are sent by April
1, 2009.
Early Registrants receive a 17% discount for early payment. Registration
Fees include entrance to all events, Food and non-alcoholic beverages,
gifts, promotional items and keepsakes. Early registrants will receive
priority consideration when and wherever possible.
Step 1. Registration

to attend the 60th Anniversary Celebration. However, after August

this event. Don’t be disappointed, please don’t put
off registering!
Step
2. Reservations
The Embassy Suites on Hampden Avenue (less than 5
miles from DU) has become available, and they have offered us several
cost saving inducements such as complimentary shuttle service to/from
DU on Saturday and they will host our reception on Friday evening
(no cost to us!) as well. Every room at this Embassy Suites is a
2 room suite that includes a living room and a bedroom with king
or 2 double beds. The rate is $99 (per night, double occupancy,
plus tax) includes a complimentary cooked to order, full breakfast
and complimentary evening beverages (alcoholic and nonalcoholic)
each night. There are several ways to easily access the Embassy
Suites Reservation System.
Go to the Denver Hockey Alumni Association web site at www.dhaa.org
and click open the Embassy Suites reservation link and it will take
you to their reservation site.
Call 1 (800) Embassy and ask for the Embassy Suites Denver Southeast
and ask for the "DU Hockey 60th Anniversary Celebration"
rate of $99.
Go to www.denversoutheast.embassysuites.com and follow the prescribed
reservation procedures.
Please make your reservations as soon as possible. The hotel has
a specific number of rooms dedicated to our group and they have
other weekend business that will insure a sellout. Don’t be
shut out of the fun and end up on somebody’s couch. Ugh! You
can always cancel should an emergency arise.
What can I do?
So many of you have asked; “What can I do?” There are
a couple of things that would make a difference. First and foremost,
please take advantage of the early registration and reservation
offering. Your commitment will ensure a successful event. Secondly,
call or e-mail a teammate and tell them that you are registered
and that you are looking forward to sharing this event with them.
We still have some bench sitters out there and we want them in the
game! Your communication can make a difference!
Thanks for your participation. We will send up updates on a regular
basis and we look forward to seeing you in October for the 60th
Anniversary of Denver Hockey Celebration!
Sincerely,
The DU Hockey Alum Reunion Committee
